Panchakarma

The most complete detoxification the human body can undergo. A classical three-phase clinical purification โ€” rooted in the Charaka Samhita, delivered under the Oneness Ayurveda Protocol.

Physician-reviewed intake  ยท  Constitutional assessment before arrival  ยท  Limited places per cohort  ยท  Sattva Campus, Southern India

Not a spa treatment.
The clinical core
of Ayurvedic medicine.

Most people who have heard of Ayurveda know its lifestyle practices โ€” the herbs, the oils, the daily routines. Fewer know that Panchakarma is something categorically different. It is the medical intervention. Panchakarma is the classical Ayurvedic system of deep purification โ€” designed to remove accumulated toxins (ama) from the body at the tissue level, restore harmony to the doshas, and rekindle the body's own healing intelligence. It is not a detox programme you do at home. It requires physician supervision, precise constitutional assessment, and a controlled therapeutic environment.

At Oneness Ayurveda, every Panchakarma retreat follows the clinical architecture of the Charaka Samhita โ€” the foundational text of classical Ayurvedic medicine โ€” delivered under a protocol developed and refined at Sattva Campus over decades.

Ama
Accumulated metabolic waste and undigested experience stored in the body's tissues โ€” the root of most chronic disease in Ayurvedic medicine
Dosha
The three fundamental bio-energies governing all physiological and psychological function: Vฤta (air/space), Pitta (fire/water), Kapha (earth/water)
Ojas
The vital essence of immunity, radiance, and deep wellbeing โ€” what is restored in the Paschatkarma phase after deep cleansing
Srota
The channels of the body through which prana flows โ€” opened and purified during Purvakarma to allow deeper cleansing in the main phase
Shirodhara โ€” warm oil flowing onto the third eye ยท Sattva Campus
"Panchakarma is not a procedure you do to the body. It is a process you invite the body into.

The protocol ensures the invitation is precisely worded โ€” every time."
Dr. V Sunil Joshi ยท B.A.M.S.
Architect of the Oneness Ayurveda Panchakarma Protocol

Three phases.
One complete purification.

Each phase has a distinct clinical purpose. Together they form the only complete cellular detoxification system in classical medicine.

I
Phase One
Pลซrvakarma
The Preparatory Phase
Purvakarma โ€” Abhyanga warm oil treatment at Sattva Campus

The body cannot be deeply cleansed without preparation. Purvakarma opens the srotas โ€” the body's channels โ€” so that ama lodged in the tissues can begin its movement outward. This phase uses gentle but precise therapies to loosen, soften, and mobilise toxins before the main purification begins.

  • Snehana โ€” Internal and external oleation (medicated ghee and herbal oils)
  • Abhyanga โ€” Warm herbal oil full-body massage to open channels
  • Nadi Swedan โ€” Localised herbal steam to soften deep tissue
  • Bashpa Swedan โ€” Full body steam box treatment
II
Phase Two
Panchakarma
The Main Detoxification Phase
Shirodhara โ€” copper vessel, oil stream, forehead โ€” Sattva Campus

The five classical therapeutic processes of Ayurvedic medicine โ€” administered under physician supervision, sequenced precisely to your doshic constitution. This is where deep cellular cleansing occurs. Each process addresses specific organs, tissues, and channels according to your individual pattern of imbalance.

  • Shirodhara โ€” Continuous warm oil on the forehead (third eye treatment)
  • Nasya Karma โ€” Medicated oil through nasal passages (paranasal sinus treatment)
  • Basti โ€” Herbal oil and decoction enema (colon cleanse)
  • Virechana โ€” Medicated purgation under physician supervision
III
Phase Three
Paschatkarma
The Rejuvenation Phase
Paschatkarma โ€” guest in the Sattva Campus forest, renewal phase

After deep purification, the body is open, receptive, and vulnerable. Paschatkarma is the phase of careful rebuilding โ€” rekindling digestive fire (agni), restoring ojas, and re-establishing the body's natural rhythms. This phase determines how long the benefits of Panchakarma will last. It is as clinically important as the detoxification itself.

  • Samsarjana Krama โ€” Graduated dietary protocol to restore digestive capacity
  • Rasayana โ€” Rejuvenative herbal preparations to restore ojas
  • Dinacharya โ€” Personalised daily routine prescribed for home continuation
  • Yoga Nidra โ€” Deep rest and nervous system restoration

No surprises.
Only deepening.

Guest in morning meditation โ€” Sattva Campus, golden light
"One of the most common questions we receive is: What will actually happen each day? Here is the shape of a typical Day 4 โ€” the mid-retreat. Your physician adjusts the schedule daily based on your body's response."
Your daily schedule is not fixed. It is a living prescription โ€” reviewed each morning by your physician and adjusted to where your body is on that specific day of the protocol.

5:45 AM
Wake & Morning Ritual
Tongue scraping, warm water, and the first moments of stillness. The body transitions from sleep to wakefulness in alignment with natural rhythms.
6:15 AM
Forest Walk
A meditative walk through the living forest of Sattva Campus. Lymphatic activation begins before the first treatment. This is not optional โ€” it is part of the protocol.
Lymphatic activation
7:00 AM
Oneness Yoga & Pranayama
Asana sequences selected for your dosha โ€” not a group yoga class, but a practice calibrated to prepare your body to receive the day's treatments.
Dosha-specific sequence
8:30 AM
Physician Check + Breakfast
Your physician reviews your body's overnight response. Pulse diagnosis, observation, brief assessment. Your Ayurvedic breakfast โ€” prepared to your doshic prescription โ€” is waiting.

10:00 AM
Morning Treatment Session
Abhyanga, Shirodhara, Nasya, or the treatment sequence your physician has prescribed for this stage of your protocol. Conducted in complete silence. Duration: 60โ€“120 minutes.
Physician-prescribed
1:00 PM
Sattvic Lunch
The largest meal of the day โ€” when digestive fire is strongest. Warm, freshly prepared, and personalised. Herbal teas accompany every meal throughout the retreat.
2:30 PM
Rest
Unstructured rest. This is not idle time โ€” deep rest during Panchakarma is an active healing state. The body processes the morning's treatments in stillness.
Healing rest
3:30 PM
Afternoon Treatment or Consultation
A second treatment session, herbal preparation, or physician consultation. On Virechana days, this period involves physician monitoring.
5:30 PM
Meditation & Consciousness Practice
Evening meditation, mantra, or one of Sri Preethaji's mystical processes. The inner dimension of the retreat โ€” as essential to the protocol as any physical treatment.
Sattva dimension
7:00 PM
Light Dinner & Early Rest
A small, warm Sattvic dinner. The body begins its nighttime healing. Screens are discouraged after dinner โ€” not as a rule, but as part of the protocol. Sleep by 9:30 PM is a clinical instruction, not a suggestion.

Three programmes.
One protocol.

Every programme follows the Oneness Ayurveda Protocol. The difference is depth, duration, and the range of therapies included.

Every plate
is a prescription.

Ayurvedic nutrition during Panchakarma is not a generic clean-eating programme. It is a clinical tool โ€” designed to support the specific therapeutic processes happening in your body on each day of the retreat.

No two guests at Oneness Ayurveda eat the same meal. Your meals are composed daily by our culinary team in consultation with your physician โ€” based on your dosha, the phase of treatment you are in, and your body's response each morning.

1
Personalised to Your Dosha
Vฤta-balancing meals are warm, grounding, and well-oiled. Pitta meals are cooling and non-pungent. Kapha meals are light, dry, and stimulating. Your constitution determines every ingredient.
2
Sattvic & Pure
All meals are freshly prepared, vegetarian, and free of processed ingredients. Sattvic food cultivates mental clarity and inner stillness โ€” essential conditions for deep healing.
3
Adjusted Daily
On days involving Virechana, your diet changes significantly. On Paschatkarma days, your meals follow Samsarjana Krama โ€” a graduated return to normal eating that protects the digestive system.
Dietary Notes for International Guests
โ†’ All meals are vegetarian โ€” naturally compatible with halal dietary requirements
โ†’ No alcohol in food preparations or herbal formulations
โ†’ Gluten-aware preparation โ€” most meals are naturally gluten-light
โ†’ Dairy is used medicinally in some preparations โ€” please inform us of any dairy sensitivities at application
โ†’ Herbal teas, healing juices, and medicated ghee accompany the programme throughout

Sample Meal Rhythm ยท Day 4 (Mid-Retreat)
7:00 AM
Warm medicated water. Herbal tea selected for your dosha. Light digestive support before morning practice.
8:30 AM
Warm rice gruel (peya) or soft cooked grains with ghee. Easy on the digestive system โ€” the body is working hard on other things.
1:00 PM
The main meal. Warm vegetable preparations, dal, rice or roti, cooling raita (Pitta) or warming spiced preparations (Vฤta/Kapha). Freshly made and eaten in silence or gentle conversation.
4:00 PM
Herbal tea. A small snack if the physician has indicated it. Often this is also when medicated preparations are taken.
7:00 PM
Light dinner โ€” easily digestible, warm, and small. The digestive system rests through the night so the body can focus on healing.

Ancient practice.
Modern validation.

For decades, Panchakarma's effects were described only in the language of Ayurveda. Compelling to those who trusted the tradition. Unverifiable to those who needed evidence. That has changed.Peer-reviewed studies now document Panchakarma's measurable impact on the markers that modern medicine tracks: telomere length, cortisol levels, HRV, inflammatory cytokines, fasting glucose, and metabolic function.

At Oneness Ayurveda, classical protocols are informed by both the ancient texts and the current evidence base. We document what we can measure. We honour what we cannot.

Cellular Aging
Telomere Length

Studies show Panchakarma protocols positively influence telomere length โ€” a biological marker of cellular youth and the rate at which we age at the molecular level.

Stress & Nervous System
Cortisol Normalisation

Participants in classical Panchakarma programmes show measurable reduction in serum cortisol โ€” the primary biological marker of chronic stress load โ€” with effects persisting at 30-day follow-up.

Metabolic Markers

Fasting glucose, HbA1c, and inflammatory cytokine levels show statistically significant improvement post-Panchakarma in participants with metabolic syndrome โ€” with sustained results at 6-month review.

Day by day.
The retreat unfolds.

Every body responds differently. But there is a recognisable arc to the Panchakarma experience โ€” one that has been observed and documented across thousands of retreats in the classical tradition. This is what most guests report.

"Individual outcomes depend on your constitution, health history, and the programme you choose. Your physician will set realistic and specific expectations during your intake consultation."

Arrival & Adjustment
Fatigue, heaviness, or mild headache is common as the body begins responding to the preparatory phase. Sleep becomes deeper. Many guests report vivid dreams from Day 1.
Day 3โ€“4
The Shift Begins
The body's channels open. Many guests report a noticeable lightness, improved appetite, and the first real sense of mental quiet. Sleep quality typically peaks around Day 4.
Day 5โ€“6
Deep Cleansing
Energy renewal begins. Skin clarity is often visible. On Virechana days, guests report an extraordinary sense of physical lightness and emotional release after the purging process.
Day 7โ€“8
Renewal
Paschatkarma. The body rebuilds. Most guests report sustained energy, mental clarity, emotional steadiness, and a quality of inner quiet they describe as unlike anything they have experienced before.
Week 2โ€“4 Post
The Deepening
Many guests report that the full effects of Panchakarma continue to unfold for 2โ€“4 weeks after departure. Sleep, digestion, and metabolic function continue to improve as the body integrates the retreat.
Month 1โ€“6
Sustained Outcomes
Guests who follow the post-retreat home protocol report sustained improvements in metabolic markers, sleep quality, and energy levels at 30, 60, and 90-day reviews.
